# Loot System

Looting allows your community to steal currency from other community members.

The looting system is a <mark style="color:red;">fun</mark> way to keep members actively engaging on your server, they're either buying shields to protect themselves or looting other members to try and gain some extra currency.\
\
You can type <mark style="color:green;">`.loot`</mark> to show the help/usage menu as seen below.

{% hint style="info" %}
Looting can get out of control if you don't take proper measures to limit the usage. Below are some tips that we've implemented on the Utility APE server to prevent looting abuse.
{% endhint %}

**Step 1**: Set your Loot channel to <mark style="color:orange;">SLOWMODE</mark>, allowing 1 message per 30 minutes.

**Step 2**: Type in the command `.disable loot` to disable the <mark style="color:green;">loot</mark> command server wide (in all channels), then type `.channel-override` and follow the example to enable <mark style="color:green;">loot</mark> only in your <mark style="color:yellow;">#loot-arena</mark> channel

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://45384882-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FWzP6DlWzbPBZHhSwoPx3%2Fuploads%2Fovv1Q56LkFF1e1bR4IgZ%2Fdisable%20loot.PNG?alt=media&amp;token=99b42ae0-3445-4b54-8eaf-984fea1b332b" alt=""><figcaption><p>Disable loot first -> Then channel-override</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://45384882-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FWzP6DlWzbPBZHhSwoPx3%2Fuploads%2FUvonTphwarsCuwzdoEqn%2Fchannel%20override%20loot.PNG?alt=media&amp;token=5d918db4-d628-471e-9df7-216d3161587c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

> Completing these two steps gives your community the ability to still enjoy the looting, without the risk of people exploiting it and stealing way too often. On the UA server before making these changes we saw organized looting against 1 rich user and the rest of the community would drain his earnings overnight.
